Birthday Cards

Today I made a couple of birthday cards for friends who had their birthdays on Sunday and Monday. The cards were inspired by this sketch:

I'm pretty happy with how they turned out especially since this is not my usual style. I used ribbon and a bow which I never do. This is the first time I've put any bling on a card and also the first time I've used rub-ons. The flower paper on the blue card is part of a bag I got from some store!

crafting again!

On Monday I made some bookmarks for Kalin's class since I'd been reading with them this year. After drawing the design (twice because the first time I made it larger than my available carving material), I carved a stamp:

Carving the stamp took the bulk of the time. I spent about 15-20 minutes afterward using my handpress to stamp 25 bookmarks. I only needed 16 but the pack of bookmarks I had purchased that day contained 25.

Here's a blurry close up:

Bug Garden Markers

This weekend I made a few of these garden markers. The bodies are made out of plastic bottle caps. The wings are cut from a milk jug. The eyes are beads that are wired on. The label is white duct tape that's been folded over. I found the idea from Family Fun magazine.

I love this woman

I've been reading this person's blog for a short time, but she cracks me up so much.  I love these videos and had to share.

Quick Cards

Last weekend I decided to forgo doing chores and play in the craft room instead. It's been clean for a while, but I haven't been doing much in there. That seemed like a travesty that needed a remedy. I've really been enjoying the Clean & Simple blog. I would post the design that inspired these, but you would see absolutely no resemblance at all. Still it was quite fun playing and I liked how they turned out:

My Space

I am becoming a blogging maniac. I thought it would be nice to have a place to post about craft stuff. First take a look at my newly cleaned (and maintained!) craft room. First a view from the doorway:
